The Punk Majesty Showroom—San Francisco’s only punk and rock-and-roll fashion showroom and art gallery—invites you to the opening night of NOCTURNE, featuring a powerful lineup of underground artists pushing the boundaries of art, and self-expression.
This exhibition showcases new work by Dasa, Sonja Kremer, Inas Al-Soqui, Fog Den, Steven Reece, Ona Gauthier, Tony Ghuraldi-Brown, Ragini Sharma, Patricia Araujo, Lulu M, Ruben Garcia, Masterpieces by Moola, and Brother Benwa —a collective of visionaries whose styles span surrealism, pop art, punk, and dark contemporary expression.

About “Revisiting Magic City” by Patricia Araujo
This the third piece I've painted relating to the Arc of Triumph monument that stood at the Golden Gate International Exposition, held at Treasure Island, in 1939. This nighttime illuminated scene is radiated by a copper-red and dark umber bright atmosphere, confronted by a tall arch in minimalist style. The left façade goes skyward, continuous to infinity, meanwhile the entire arch engages the viewer to search within its space – a celebration towards such structure combined with one’s findings.
The Golden Gate International Exposition, a phantasmagoria of architectural beauty that would open in 1939, was to promote peace and international cooperation; it was also a celebration of San Francisco: the building of two new bridges launched the city’s role as the "gateway to the Pacific.” The breathtaking buildings, dramatically and inventively lit at night in glowing colors, embraced a variety of architectural styles: Art Deco, Bauhaus, and Romanesque. The theme of the fair was Pacific unity, sharing styles from all four continents with the Pacific coasts. As the war in Europe heated up, various participating countries had to close their exhibits. It became evident that Magic City could not be sustained. The fair closed on September 29th, 1940.

About The Hilton Hotel by Patricia Araujo
Here is the Hilton Hotel, located on Kearny Street in San Francisco's financial district and intersecting between North Beach and Chinatown. Whenever I'm in the neighborhood, I look forward to viewing this building, and especially at night. It is a strange and monumental site, and wished to paint this enchanting structure seen at twilight.
